"Morning"

A tall window hung with translucent curtains admits pale daylight into a small pink-walled room. Below it stand a square wooden table with two bentwood chairs and a single mug, while a slender lamp with an orange shade rests on the windowsill. To the right a sofa piled with pillows, one mustard yellow, fills the corner beneath two small framed pictures.

Soft pastel strokes in rose, grey and cream blur every edge, letting window, furniture and walls dissolve into one another under hazy, diffused light. The loose, rubbed texture and complete absence of any figure give the empty room a hushed, still calm, as though caught in the quiet moments before anyone has entered.
